Fredrick “Freddie” Reihner, 79, of Canton Township, Washington, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2013, in Humbert Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre, and was cared for by Gentiva Hospice during a brief battle with melanoma cancer.
He was born May 18, 1934, in Washington, a son of John and Katherine Friend Reihner.
Mr. Reihner worked at Brockway Glass Co. Plant 7 for 35 years, and Napa Auto Parts.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Reihner enjoyed spending time with his family, going to grandchildren’s sporting events, his pets, gardening, making model cars and listening to his oldies.
On February 14, 1959, he married JoAnn Huffman, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Frederick “Jack” Reihner of Washington; a daughter, Janis (Thomas) Alrutz of Washington; grandsons Cody and Caleb Reihner of Claysville; a granddaughter, Nichole Reihner of Washington; three sisters, Evelyn (Jimmy) Gallo, Jean (Angelo) Comfort and Mary Toward, all of New Mexico; a brother, John Reihner of Washington; several nieces and nephews; and special friends he made and who cared for him at Humbert Lane.
Deceased are a sister, Sally; and a brother, Jack.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, in Claysville United Methodist Church. Messages of condolence may be left at www.hummellandjones.com.
