F. Earl Bowman, 86, of West Finley, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013, with his loving family by his side, after being in failing health for the past several years.
He was born June 4, 1927, in West Finley Township, Washington County, a son of the late Lester Henry and Mary Florence Kennedy Bowman.
Mr. Bowman has resided in the West Finley area all of his life.
He was a 1946 graduate of the former West Alexander High School and attended West Liberty College in W.Va. for two years.
Mr. Bowman was a member of First Christian Church in West Alexander.
He was a member and has served as the treasurer of West Finley Volunteer Fire Co. for the past 24 years.
Mr. Bowman loved farming, gardening, raising flowers, feeding the humming birds, taking care of his dogs and practicing reflexology.
He was employed for 12 years by the former First National Bank in West Alexander, and was later employed by the former Wheeling Machine Products in Elm Grove, W.Va., prior to retiring in 1974, in maintenance and security for seven years. Following retirement, he was last employed by the former Heinrich Funeral Home in Claysville for five years.
On March 29, 1952, he married Kathrine Louise Milliken who died March 12, 2013.
Surviving are two daughters, Martha L., wife of William Beverlin of Dallas, W.Va., and Cathy J., wife of Stephen Emery of West Finley; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, is a sister, Mary Ethel Hughes.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 12, with Pastor Cindy Murphy officiating.
