Stephanie Povirk

Stephanie Povirk, 100, of Bridgeville, formerly of Cecil, died Friday, October 4, 2013, in Broadmore Assisted Living at Lakemont Farms, Bridgeville.
She was born December 15, 1912, in Colnisce, Stajerske, Slovenia, a daughter of the late August and Antonija Kokole Steban.
At the age of 13 months, she came to America with her mother to reunite with her father in West Newton.
On February 20, 1930, she married Andrew Povirk and they shared 45 happy years together, before his passing in 1975. The following years were lonely, but she kept busy tending her home, cleaning, cooking her meals, doing yard work and even cutting her grass until she was 90.
Mrs. Povirk was a member of St. Mary Parish, SNPJ Bratsvo Lodge 6 in Sygan, Hill Toppers and South Fayette and McDonald-Cecil Senior Citizens, where she enjoyed playing cards with friends.
She worked with her husband as co-owners of the Clover Farm Store in Cecil.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew M. Povirk; three brothers, Rudolph Dernosek, August and John Steban; and a sister, Rose Steban Povirk.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11:30 a.m., the time of service, Thursday, October 10, in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road (Rt. 50), Cecil, where prayers of transfer will be said, followed by a Christian Funeral Mass in St. Mary Church, Cecil, with Father Stan Gregorek officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in West Newton Cemetery, West Newton. Contributions are suggested to the Community Meals on Wheels, 119 Station Street, McDonald, PA 15057.
