Avid hunter, fisherman
James R. Walker Jr., 71, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born August 20, 1942, in Washington, the son of the late James R. “Shorty” Sr. and Catherine Knestrick Walker.
Mr. Walker was a 1960 graduate of Trinity High School, and, early on, worked for Canon Tool. He later worked as a machinist for West Penn Wire and retired in 2001.
He was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church, South Strabane Township.
Mr. Walker was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a fan of the Steelers and NASCAR.
He was a 50-year-plus member of Claysville Lodge 447 F&AM.
On November 18, 1989, at Faith United Presbyterian Church, he married Nancy M. Hayes, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Douglas Walker of Dallas, W.Va., and John J. (Donna) Walker of Fairfax, Va.; a daughter, Christy Turocy of Washington; a stepson, Scott (Pamela) Stein of Avella; a stepdaughter, Susan of Dallas; six grandchildren, Janelle Jonnet, Seth Turocy, Brennan Turocy, Tanner Walker, Jack Walker and Tyler Stein; and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves two furry friends, Codi and Tucker.
Deceased is a son, David Walker.
Friends will be received from noon to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 14, with the Rev. Jason Hefner officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
