Winnie Louise Knox, 90, of Washington, died Thursday, October 10, 2013, in her home.
She was born February 7, 1923, in Morgantown, W.Va., the daughter of Willard Holden Burnside and Eula Pearl Danley Burnside.
Mrs. Knox was a 1940 graduate of Brownsville High School.
She was a member of and attended North Buffalo Church for 66 years, where she was treasurer of the missionary society and taught Sunday school.
Mrs. Knox was a homemaker and a member of Martha V. Paul Order of the Eastern Star and Buffalo Grange, where she was the lecturer for many years. She was also a volunteer at Washington Hospital for many years and was active at Washington Senior Citizens Center, a Cub Scout den mother and cooked and organized roast beef dinners at the grange and church.
On August 3 1942, she married Lloyd Vincent Knox, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gerald (Sue) Knox of Warren and the Rev. R. Daniel (Pam) Knox of Ambridge; two daughters, Marilyn (Doug) Ward of Washington and Linda (John) Morgan of Canonsburg; a brother, Harry (Eleanor) Burnside of Beloit, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Jodi Wiler, Tamara Rotunda, Daniel Ward, John Morgan, April Hincy, Sarah Maffet, Dr. James Knox, Jesse Knox and Rachel Payne; 11 great-grandchildren, Blake Montour, Gina, Carl Jr. and Morgan Rotunda, Abigail, Jacob, Lydia and Susanna Maffet, Aiden and Logan Payne and Fiona Hincy; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Robert Burnside, and a sister, Betty Lengjak.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 14, in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Township, with Pastor Gary Gibson and the Rev. R. Daniel Knox co-officiating. Burial will follow at North Buffalo Cemetery.
