Retired nurse, devoted caregiver
Frances Elaine Leeper, 76, of Brownsville, Centerville Borough, died Saturday, October 12, 2013, in Uniontown Hospital.
She was born December 31, 1936, in Crescent Heights, a daughter of the late Claude and Georgia Lee Gould Wells.
Mrs. Leeper was a 1955 graduate of Centerville High School and a 1958 graduate of Washington Hospital School of Nursing.
She retired from Brownsville General Hospital in 1996, where she had been employed as a charge nurse in the emergency department and later became a manager of utilization review.
Mrs. Leeper was a concerned and devoted caregiver to all of her patients. Her nursing career included employment at Washington Hospital, Charleroi/Monessen Hospital and Brownsville General Hospital.
She was a charter member of Garwood Baptist Church, where she served as church secretary for many years. For more than 50 years, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hancock-McCune-Horne American Legion Post 705.
Mrs. Leeper enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an excellent cook and baker.
On June 29, 1959, she married William “Bud” Leeper, who survives. They celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two grandchildren, Aaron Leeper (Tabitha) of Brownsville and Richard Tennant (Tracy) of Eighty Four; two great-grandchildren, Aria Leeper and Cameron Parks; a brother, Paul Wells (Charlene) of the Villages, Fla.; a sister, Audrey Novicki (Ed) of Charlotte, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Leeper of Brownsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two sons, Kevan D. Leeper, who died September 7, 2008, and William Dean Leeper, who died at birth; a sister, Pat Martin; and a brother, Fred Wells.
All services will be private and are under the direction of John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Garwood Baptist Church, 496 South Ridge Road, Coal Center, PA 15423.
