Canonsburg resident loved to cook, read, travel
Lena “Linda” Palilla Liberatore, 86, a lifelong resident of Canonsburg, died Monday, October 14, 2013, in Center for Compassionate Care, Mount Lebanon.
She was born April 21, 1927, in Canonsburg, a daughter of Calogero “Charles” and Madeline Livolsi Palilla.
Mrs. Liberatore was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg all of her life.
She loved to cook and read. She also loved to travel, especially to visit her parents hometown in Villa Rosa, Sicily.
During her youth, she worked at Canonsburg Pottery for a short time.
She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them, and until recently was the one who gathered everyone together for the Christmas holiday.
On November 22, 1947, in St. Patrick Church, she married Louis R. Liberatore, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three sons, Ralph (Wendie) Liberatore of Cecil, Charles (Julie) Liberatore of Washington and Daniel (Tracie) Liberatore of Canonsburg.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Tamara (William) Demascal, Christopher (Brianna) Liberatore, Allie Liberatore, Tyler Liberatore and Louis Liberatore; and three great-grandchildren, William, Benjamin and Joshua Demascal.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Mario L. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 194 East College Street, Canonsburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 p.m. Friday, October 18, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
