Mary A. Bazzoli

Mary A. Bazzoli, 95, of Strabane Trails Village, formerly of Adams Avenue, Canonsburg, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, in Center for Compassionate Care, Mt. Lebanon.
She was born April 16, 1918, in Maxwell, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline Merhel Karahuta.
Prior to the past four years, she lived in Canonsburg for most of her life, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Bazzoli was a homemaker who enjoyed baking for and being with her beloved family. An avid bingo and card player, she belonged to various card clubs over the years. She enjoyed trips to the casino as well as around the country and to foreign lands. She led a very full and active life.
On April 20, 1940, in the old St. Patrick Church, she married Arigo D. Bazzoli, who passed away May 18, 1995.
Also deceased is a son, David M. Bazzoli Sr., who passed away November 10, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Karen (Frank) Gasper of Washington; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Bazzoli of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Jim (Staci) Gasper, Michael (Erin) Gasper, David Bazzoli Jr., Kristen (Rob) Spellman and Gregory Bazzoli; six great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jennavieve Gasper, Emma and Olivia Gasper and James and Alyssa Spellman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are three sisters, Pauline Leskovic, Anna Stump and Dorothy Pochiba and a brother, Michael Karahuta, who was killed in action during World War II.
Friends are welcome from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 19, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
