Robert B. Dehls
U.S. Army Air Force veteran
Robert B. Dehls, 88, of McMurray, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in Paramount Senior Living, Peters Township.
He was born December 22, 1924, in Vincennes, Ind., a son of the late Tony and Daisy Dehls.
Mr. Dehls was the beloved husband of Joyce Epperson Dehls for 67 years; loving father of David (Ruby) of San Antonio, Texas, Jean Epperson, Mark (Cindy) and Susan (Tim) Coy of Paragould, Ark.; cherished grandfather of Joy (Brad) Chapin, Malinda (Brandon) Haney, Chad (Sabrina) Epperson, Scott Epperson, Sumner Coy, Mason Coy and Sarah Dehls; great-grandfather of Kaitlyn Corder, Alexis Epperson, Lainie Epperson, Cannon Haney and Hope Haney; and dear brother of the late Merle June Dehls, the late NB Dehls, Tony Eugene Dehls and Gary Dehls. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran and a graduate of Purdue University.
Mr. Dehls worked at Koppers for 37 years and held various positions around the Unitd States. In 1974, he moved to Peters Township and retired in 1987 as vice president of sales. While employed with Koppers, he assisted in the development of and holds a patent for an improved highway-grade railroad crossing.
He spent his life serving his church and his community. He was a founding member of the Retired Reserves at Center Presbyterian Church, where he also served as elder, trustee and was a long time member of the Chancel Choir.
Mr. Dehls was an avid golfer and, during his retirement, he made golf clubs as a hobby.
Friends are welcome from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-260-5546. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 21, in Center Presbyterian Church, 255 Center Church Road, McMurray. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.
