Murshie Jean “Girlfriend” Browne, 49, of Monongahela, died Thursday, October 17, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born August 5, 1964, in Verdun, France, a daughter of the late Billy E. and Doris Rowan Gilbert.

Mrs. Browne was a graduate of Salina South High School in Salina, Kan., and attended Kansas State University, where she majored in theater.

She was employed as the center director for Jenny Craig in Virginia and Southwestern Pennsylvania and as director of human resources for the Dollar Energy Fund in Pittsburgh. She retired as director of human resources at Mt. Macrina Manor in Uniontown.

Mrs. Browne was a member of FOE 1809 Eagle Riders in Bentleyville.

She enjoyed broadway, acting, watching Cirque Du Soleil, camping, scuba diving and riding motorcycles.

Surviving are her husband, David J. Browne, with whom she celebrated 17 years of marriage June 28, 2013; a son, Daniel Bryant Laster, at home; sisters Nora Gilbert and Laura Pew, both of Lenexa, Kan., and twin, Melanie Tidball of Natoma, Kan.; a brother, Kenneth Gilbert, and wife Beth of Charles Town, W.Va.; and seven nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a brother, Daniel Gilbert.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 20, with the Pastor Clayton Van Verth officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora.
