Seamstress enjoyed family time
Elaine M. Campbell, 93, of Charleroi, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.
She was born March 4, 1920, in Fairhope, Fayette County, a daughter of the late Willis Russell Paxton and Margaret M. Byrns Paxton.
Mrs. Campbell worked as a seamstress for Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg for 19 years and later worked for 15 years as a cook for Mon River Towing. She also baked pies for Waynesburg Restaurant and, during World War II, worked in a factory that produced artillery shells.
Mrs. Campbell loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Smoggie of Waynesburg and Rebecca M. Church (Fred) of Painesville, Ohio; a son, Ford Campbell (Darlene) of Spraggs; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Georgette Sadler of Washington and Minnie Metz of Charleroi.
Deceased are a daughter, Kathleen Stickles; and four sons, John “Buck” Stickles, Willis “Skip” Stickles, Mark Allen Campbell and Donald Laird Campbell.
Family and friends are welcome to a graveside service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, in Hewitt Cemetery, Rices Landing, with the Rev. Nick Bardo and the Rev. David Earnest officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
