Vietnam veteran

Floyd Cook, 65, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Cherry Valley, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, in the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System.

He was born March 20, 1948, in Cherry Valley, a son of the late Fred Cook Jr. and Helen Cook Wasik.

After graduating from Burgettstown High School in 1966, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Germany and Vietnam from April 1970 until being honorably discharged in August 1974.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Robinson Cook of Burgettstown; two sons, Stephen Cook and wife Felicia of Pittsburgh and Matthew Cook of Burgettstown; stepfather August “Popeye” Wasik of Cherry Valley; two sisters, Marjorie Cook Wasik and husband Thomas of Hickory and Jessie Cook of Cherry Valley; a brother, Ronald Wasik and wife Joan of Cherry Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

To honor Mr. Cook’s wishes, services and inurnment with full military honors will be held privately in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown.
