Melvin L. Smith, 66, of Waynesburg, died at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013, in Southwest Regional Medical Center in Waynesburg.
He was born Monday, September 29, 1947, in Waynesburg, a son of the late James A. Smith, Sr. and Ruth A. Rush Smith.
Mr. Smith enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He worked as a custodian in Holiday Motel in Waynesburg and later worked as a car detailer for Pat’s Motors in Waynesburg.
Surviving are three sisters, Violet English, Loretta Patterson, both of Waynesburg, and Betty Knoll of Lordstown, Ohio.; four brothers, James A. Smith, Jr. of Casper, Wyo., Walter Smith of Greensboro, Earl B. Smith and Robert L. Smith, both of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are two sisters, Maxine Areford and Helen Kay Patterson; and two brothers, Glenn Smith and John Smith.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, October 23, in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, with the Rev. John Poling officiating. Private burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.
