Ronald R. “Ron” Dillie, 81, of Washington, formerly of Claysville, died Monday, October 21, 2013, at 2:40 p.m. in Donnell House, Washington.
He was born September 30, 1932, in West Finley Township, a son of Albert E. and Minnie Elder Dillie.
Mr. Dillie was a member of First Baptist Church and American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
He was employed by Columbia Gas, retiring in 1994.
Mr. Dillie enjoyed golfing.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Cimarron receiving the following decorations, medals, badges, commendations, citations and campaign ribbons awarded or authorized: United Nations, Korean, China Service, National Defense, KPUC and Good Conduct.
Mr. Dillie was formerly married to Judith A. Forienger, who died in 1995. His wife, Norma J. Croft Gregg Dillie, died August 6, 2013.
Surviving are three daughters, Rhonda (Mark) Grose of Myrtle Beach S.C., Stacy (Ed) Zappi of Avella and Jamie (Earl) Cummins of North Carolina; a stepson, Harry (Mary Beth) Gregg of New Jersey; a brother, Calvin A. (Marie) Dillie of Claysville; eight grandchildren, Camden Zappi, Evyn Zappi, Maddie Zappi, Chance Gray, Joey Gray, Billy Gray, Sarah Gregg and Bryan Gregg; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Gregg and Aiden Gregg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are eight brothers, Gaylord, Raymond and Cletus Dillie, Ralph, William, Harold, Edgar and Edwin Long; and six sisters, Mae Allen, Helen Sprowls, Velma Majors, Agnes Miller, Mabel Iams and Zelda Jolley.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 24, Private interment will be held in North Buffalo Cemetery.
