Sandra Rafferty Hustava, 71, of Brownsville, died Sunday, October 20, 2013.
She was born March 17, 1942, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Robert Patterson and Marie Ferrari Carl.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hustava was always active with her family.
She was involved with the War and Veterans Association of Brownsville and a member of First Christian Church of Brownsville for more than 20 years. She was involved in the Missing in America project, helping to inter unclaimed remains of veterans in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
Mrs. Hustava enjoyed cooking, baking, music, movies and her Rat Terrier, Alea.
Surviving are two daughters, Deana Anderson of Carmichaels and Allyson Rafferty of Erie; three brothers, Wayne Carl of Daisytown, Robert Carl of Millsboro and Patrick Carl of Uniontown; a sister, Cecelia Phillips of Vestaburg; four grandchildren, Jason and Steven Anderson and Samantha and Kayla Rafferty; four great-grandchildren, Travis, Jason “J.J.”, Quentin and Kenneth; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two husbands, A. Chris Rafferty, who died September 3, 1979, and Michael Hustava Jr., who died August 10, 2009; two sons, 1st Sgt. Christopher C. Rafferty, who was killed in action July 21, 2006, and Matthew Rafferty, who died May 5, 1971; and a sister, Amelia “Mickey” Grimes.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 42 Bank Street at Crawford Road, Fredericktown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 24. Interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a charity of one’s choice.
