Calvary Temple Church of Washington minister

Pastor David R. Harner, 73, of Washington, died Monday, September 2, 2013, in Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Township.

He was born December 17, 1939, in Danville, a son of Arthur and Mable Bittenger Harner.

Pastor Harner was the minister of Calvary Temple Church of Washington. He also operated Harner’s Rest Home for 23 years.

His first wife, Joyce White Harner, is deceased. On June 15, 1996, he married Jo Ann Appleby Kler, who died August 27, 2013.

Pastor Harner is survived by two sons, Jeffery A. and Arthur D. Harner of Washington; four stepdaughters, Linda (Kenny) Bolosan of Washington, Robin (Jeffrey) Kler-Demchak of Monongahela and Beverly (Michael) Kasavich and Bobbi Jo (Daniel) Wagner, both of Washington; two sisters, Beatrice Oaks and Ruth Stall of Danville; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Deceased, in addition to his wife, are a son, David Harner Jr.; an infant daughter, Susan Annette Harner; two brothers, Theodore Harner, who died at birth, and William Harner; and two sisters, Virginia Walt and Esther Dunkle.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, and Douglas M. Jones, director.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Pastor Harner will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 14, in Calvary Temple, 1200 Donnan Avenue, Washington. Messages of condolence may be left at www.hummellandjones.com.
