Retired bricklayer was lifelong Canonsburg resident

Joseph A. Prince, 76, of Canonsburg, passed away at 9:25 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2013, in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness.

He was born May 15, 1937, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Gabor and Mary Betarie Prince.

Mr. Prince lived his entire life in Canonsburg, where he had attended St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a bricklayer for Jessop Steel Corp. and Allegheny Ludlum. He was a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 9. He was also a member of White Eagles and GBU clubs in Canonsburg and very much enjoyed his grandchildren and fishing.

On May 30, 1986, he married Marion Linn Ferguson, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Frank J. Prince (Rose Cummings) of Cambridge Springs and Howard J. (Lynette) Ferguson of South Strabane Township; daughter Susan L. Franz (Tim Ulum) of North Strabane Township; two brothers, Gabor (Anita) Prince of Canonsburg and Frank (Ruth) Prince of Florida; two sisters, Bernice (Albert) Monkewicz and Darla (Gary) Olistro, both of Canonsburg; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two sisters, Mary Kovalovsky and Donna Lochner.

Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, September 6.
