Peter J. Salansky, 87, of Atlasburg, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, in Washington Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1926, in Canonsburg, a son of the late John and Sophie Hudick Salansky.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Salansky was employed by J&L Steel in Aliquippa and later by Jake Schneider, driving a van for students.
He was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Salansky served during World War II as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.
On December 19, 1953, he married Irene Maczko, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Mark (Victoria) Salansky of Atlasburg; brothers Paul Salansky of Chicago, Ill., and Ted Salansky of Morristown, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are five brothers, John, Alec, Mike, Bill and Fred Salansky, and six sisters, Eva Sheridin, Anne Pakulik, Mary Kissock, Julia Salansky, Helen Salansky and Lillian Balescivich.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Taucher Funeral Home, 23 Erie Mine Road, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 9, with Pastor Lou Templeton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
