Robert Joel Stansberry
McGraw Edison retiree served in U.S. Army
Robert Joel “Joe” Stansberry passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, in his home in Owensboro, Ky., at the age of 79.
He was born in 1934 in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Stansberry graduated from Washington High School in 1952.
He worked as a mold maker for Hazel Atlas Glass in Washington and later as a tool and die maker for McGraw Edison in Canonsburg for 34 years until he retired.
Mr. Stansberry served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, where he spent most of his time stationed in Hawaii.
He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges and the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts.
Mr. Stansberry enjoyed watching sports, cooking, raising a garden and spending time with his family, especially vacationing together.
His wife of 57 years, Patricia Jamison Stansberry, survives. They were married September 14, 1956, in Winchester, Va.
Also surviving are daughters Traci Chesley (Roger Fetty) of Milton, W.Va., and Tammie (Jim) Roberts of Owensboro; a grandson, Joe Roberts of Morehead, Ky.; and other family and friends.
There are no services planned. Glenn Funeral and Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
