Korean War veteran was West Penn Power retiree

John J. Maslyk, 83, of Charleroi, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, in his home.

He was born December 17, 1929, in Joffre, a son of the late Jan and Mary Maslyk.

Mr. Maslyk retired as a transmission and distribution supervisor from West Penn Power Co. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are a son, Philip Maslyk of Charleroi; a daughter, Cydnee (Carl) Vozniak of Doylestown; a grandson, Taylor Vozniak of Manayunk; and a granddaughter, Marissa Toof Maslyk of Chadron, Neb.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa “Betty Jane” Maslyk; brothers Theodore and Louis Maslyk; and sisters Wanda Link and Jane Slack.

At the request of Mr. Maslyk, there will be no public visitation.

A memorial service, which will be announced at a later date, will be held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society.
