Weirton Steel Corp. retiree

James Kermit Thompson, 77, of Burgettstown, passed away Friday, September 13, 2013, surrounded by his family, in Canonsburg General Hospital.

He was born November 15, 1935, in Cross Creek Township, a son of the late Henry H. and Margaret Amanda McCreary Thompson.

Also deceased are his wife, Nancy Sue Wright Thompson; sisters Annie Hause and Mary Riggle; and brothers Louie and Bill Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was a member of Tucker United Methodist Church, Richard Vaux Lodge No. 454 F&AM and Weirton Steel 25-year club.

He retired from the welding shop of Weirton Steel Corp. Previously, he had been employed for 17 years as a butcher at Bovalina Meat Packing in Slovan.

Surviving are a daughter, Terri Klages (Ken); sons James Thompson and Patrick Thompson (Dena), both of Burgettstown; grandchildren Amanda and Abby Thompson and Ken Klages; and sister Patty Majernik (Paul) of Michigan.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3721 Main Street, Weirton, W.Va. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 16, in Tucker United Methodist Church, 641 Steubenville Pike, Florence, with Pastor Ken Jacobs presiding. Interment will follow in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Hanover Township. Masonic service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
