Avid woodworker and leather crafter
Harry Keith Lohr, 76, of Holland, Ohio, and formerly of New Freeport, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday in Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg, Ohio, after being in failing health for the past two years.
He was born September 11, 1937, in Westfield, a son of the late Cecil John and Ethel Louise Parry Loh. He resided in Wyoming prior to moving to Ohio in 1968.
Mr. Lohr was a 1955 graduate of the former Waynesburg High School.
He was a member of National Rifle Association and United Transportation Union.
Mr. Lohr was an avid woodworker and leather crafter who also enjoyed picture puzzles.
He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served as a builder 3rd class with the Seabees.
Mr. Lohr was formerly employed in general construction and a laborer on the Alaskan pipeline and was last employed for approximately 32 years as an engineer with the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Surviving are his wife, Gratta Joan Stewart Lohr, whom he married, February 17, 1962; a son, Brian Lohr of Walbridge, Ohio; and a daughter, Anita, wife of John McWatters of Delta, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Meghan, Patrick and Russell McWatters.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, Harold Richard “Rick” “Flipper” Lohr.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a public memorial service to be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 21, in Rush Funeral Home Inc. Rogersville, with the Rev. Vernon K. Berdine officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by representatives of the U.S. Navy and Waynesburg American Legion Post 330.
