Ethel Pearl Fox Haines, 95, of Mt. Morris, died at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in the home of her daughter, Martha.

She was born Tuesday, October 30, 1917, in Perry Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Noah Fox and Ethel Wade Fox.

Mrs. Haines was a 1938 graduate of Mt. Morris High School.

She was a member of Claughton Chapel United Methodist Church and was a Lay Speaker since 1956, having preached in several churches in Greene and Fayette counties.

Mrs. Haines enjoyed quilting, flowers and gardening. She loved to bake, especially salt-rising bread.

She worked for Dr. Brooks in Mt. Morris for several years.

On February 4, 1939, she married Wilmer M. Haines, who died November 16, 1995.

Surviving are two daughters, Ethel Pearl Simmons and Martha Statler (George) Bell, both of Spraggs; three sons, Van (Lorraine) Haines of Mannington, W.Va., W. Harold (Susan) Haines of Spraggs and the Rev. Kenneth A. (Twyla) Haines of Mt. Morris; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a first cousin, Marion Wade of Mt. Morris.

Mrs. Haines was the last of her immediate family.

Deceased are three great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Harold Fox.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370. Family and friends are asked to meet for a grave side service at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 21, in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, with Lay Speaker Lawrence Albert Flenniken officiating.
