”Little Joe’s Aunt”
Rose M. Casarcia, 91, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013, in IHS Greenery, Canonsburg, following an extended illness.
She was born January 27, 1922, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Dominic and Eleanora Lombardi Casarcia.
Miss Casarcia was a graduate of Canonsburg High School.
She was self-employed at Rose’s Cleaners in Canonsburg and Dravo during World War II. Prior to her retirement, she was an aide at the former Western Center.
Miss Casarcia lived her entire life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers and Guild.
She enjoyed her cats, garage sales and flea markets. In her free time, she helped out at Little Joe’s Market and Trovato’s Restaurant, where she was affectionately know as “Little Joe’s Aunt.”
Surviving are her beloved niece and grandnephews, Anna Marie Trovato and her sons Joseph and John Trovato, with whom she made her home, prior to her illness, and many other nieces and nephews.
Miss Casarcia was the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are three sisters, Ann Polochak, who passed away July 10, 2010, Angeline Quevus and Lena Diana, and five brothers, Colombo, Guy, Joseph, Patsy and Frank Casarcia.
Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday, September 23, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, September 23, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The Christian Mothers and Guild of St. Patrick Church will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
