Homemaker enjoyed traveling
Mabel Elizabeth Garrett, 94, of Washington, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 21, 2013, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington.
She was born November 5, 1918, in Graysville, a daughter of Charles and Mary Myers Loughman.
Mrs. Garrett was a homemaker, who enjoyed baking pies and traveling.
She was Methodist.
On October 24, 1938, she married Samuel Demas Garrett, who died August 4, 1978.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Garrett and Carl “Butch” (Evelyn) Garrett, both of Washington; a daughter, Bonita “Bonnie” (Tom) McGowan of Scenery Hill; four grandchildren, Sheryl McGowan Baker, Carl Garrett Jr., Steven Garrett and Jennifer Garrett; a stepgranddaughter, Tamara Johns; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Debra Garrett; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a granddaughter, Michelle McGowan Hoye; three sisters, Mae Clutter, Pearl Gratz and Mildred Loughman; three brothers, Harry, Charles and Dick Loughman; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Wheeler; and a brother-in-law, Samuel Garrett.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, with the Rev. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
