Carmela Rose Compeggie, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in her home.

She was born September 5, 1917, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Melina Scarci.

Mrs. Compeggie was an active member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where she taught CCD and volunteered in the office.

She was a member of Italian Organization, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Christian Mothers.

Surviving is a daughter, Barbara Lucille Compeggie Coulter; a son, Anthony Lewis Compeggie and wife Susan; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Martys and Katherine Yesenchak; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband of 67 years, Mario A. Compeggie, and several siblings.

Friends will be received 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Beinhauer-Bogan Funeral Home, 164 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, where the Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. by the Christian Mothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, September 27, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg, with the Rev. John J. Batykefer officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery.
