U.S. Army veteran
Charles “Lou” Gashel, 90, formerly of St. Pauls, N.C., passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, N.C.
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Gashel was born July 3, 1923, in Claysville, a son of the late Charles Lee and Lillian Montgomery Gashel.
He was a longtime member of St. Pauls Masonic Lodge No. 474, St. Pauls Shrine Club and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
Left to cherish his memories are wife, Vivian Gashel; a grandson, Joseph Matthews; a granddaughter, Laquita Jean Matthews; four great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brothers Wilbur, Fred and Ray Gashel; a niece, Abbie Blake; and son-in-law Bob Matthews.
Deceased are a brother, Kenneth Gashel; and a sister, Lucille Gashel.
Services were held in Hope Mills, N.C, with interment following in Oakridge Cemetery, St. Pauls.
