Crafter loved spending time with grandson

Cynthia L. Vallone, 61, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Washington, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 29, 2013, in Village of Pennwood Assisted Living Center, Pittsburgh.

She was born February 4, 1952, in Washington, a daughter of Dominick and Naomi Cunningham Vallone.

Ms. Vallone was a member of Sixth Presbyterian Church of Pittsburgh, and was a longtime member of Friendship Community Church while living in Washington.

She was employed by Humbert Lane Personal Care Home, where she was an activities assistant. Later, she worked for many years in McDonald’s restaurant in Meadow Lands.

Ms. Vallone was skilled at crocheting and knitting, including afghans, and enjoyed numerous crafts. She liked to read and especially loved spending time with her grandson, Dante.

She is survived by a daughter, Heather L. Vallone, of Pittsburgh; a grandson, Dante Shelley; and an aunt, uncle and cousins.

Friends will be received 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home Inc., Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, funeral director, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 3, with the Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
