Rodney John Pompei
Maryland teacher was born in Bentleyville
Rodney John Pompei, 65, of Laurel, Md., passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014, in Howard County General Hospital, Columbia, Md., after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born July 20, 1948, in Bentleyville, a son of the late John Pompei and Katherine Kudra Pompei.
Mr. Pompei was the beloved husband of June Pompei for 22 years; loving father of Kyle Pompei; and brother of Debra Vlanich and Joyce Spridik of Bentleyville.
He was a 1966 graduate of Bentleyville-Ellsworth High School and a graduate of California State College, now known as California University of Pennsylvania. He also had an equivalency of a master’s degree, which he earned through credits at various universities and Prince George’s County Public Schools. He taught math in Prince George’s County Public Schools for 33 years at Nicholas Orem Middle School and High Point High School.
Relatives and friends were received, and a service was held, Saturday, February 1, in Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, Md. Interment was private.
