Loved working his family farm
Frank L. Post Sr., 70, of Avella, died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, following complications from several strokes suffered over the past six months.
He was born October 7, 1943, in Washington, a son of the late Clarke Sprowls Post Sr. and Mary Griffith Dutton Post, and had resided on his home farm in Blaine Township all his life.
Mr. Post was a member of Claysville United Presbyterian Church and was a 1961 graduate of McGuffey High School.
He had a lifelong passion of caring for and working his family farm, The Two Post Farm, which he co-owned with his son.
Mr. Post was employed as a pipeline welder with Local 798, out of Tulsa, Okla., where he began as a welder’s helper, then broke out as a welder in 1972, retiring in 2008 with more than 50 years of service in the union. Following retirement, he was employed as a superintendent for Paris Construction on a pipeline crossing the family farm.
He had served as a delegate to United Association of Pipefitters and Steamfitters conventions for several years and had served as a steward and foreman for several pipeline contractors across the United States.
On August 27, 1983, he married Cheryll Lynn McCullough, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Frank L. Post Jr., husband of Kaylea Post of Avella; two daughters, Tammi, wife of Darrin Iams of West Alexander and Tega, wife of Josh George of Avella; three grandchildren, Kagin and Lexin Iams and Cason George; two brothers, John, husband of Patricia Post of Avella, and Clarke S. “Rob” Post Jr., husband of Nancy Post of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Betsy Miller of Mesa, Ariz., and Mary Jo, wife of Mike Flory of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Claysville U.P. Church, Claysville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
