Helen J. Jakubek, 85, of Strabane, passed away Sunday February 2, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington, following a brief illness.
She was born November 10, 1928, in Moundsville W.Va., a daughter of the late John and Josephine Kuplinski Moskavish. Mrs. Jakubek lived most of her life in Strabane and was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for 40 years at the former Tiny Store.
On November 15, 1947, she married Albert M. Jakubek, who passed away August 18, 2004.
Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Jakubek, with whom she made her home, Teresa (Frank) Repanshek of Lebanon and Bernadette (Kathe) Dey of Heath, Ohio; a brother, Thomas Dubites of Ripley, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Jacob (Alissa), Zachary (Jennifer) and Rachael Repanshek, and Adam (Caree) and Brenton Dey; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg, with interment to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
