Enjoyed grandchildren, travel and country music

Shirley Yvonne Anderson, 74, of Washington, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Washington County Health Center, following a courageous 24-year battle with cancer.

She was born February 22, 1939, in Burgettstown, a daughter of Willis Earl and Gaynelle Hartley Dillie.

Mrs. Anderson worked at the former Ankrom (Kade’s) Nursing Home as an aide, and then spent many happy years as a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren, travel and country music. She played slap bass.

She was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Anderson was married to Carl Lee Anderson, who died in 1990.

Surviving are a son, Carl Eric (Cindy) Anderson, and a daughter, Kimberly D. (David) Orndoff, both of Washington; a son-in-law, Kevin Krepps; a brother, Curtis R. Dillie of Eighty Four; two sisters, Geraldine Kearns of Washington and Darlene Burnett of McMurray; seven grandchildren, Kevin Ryan Krepps, Kristin Renee (Chris) Lemley, Sheila Yvonne Bonus, Alicia Marie Bonus, Kayla Ann Bonus, Tori Lynn Anderson and Michael Lee Anderson; a great-grandson, Julian M. Brindle; four stepgrandchildren, Joshua L. and Olivia J. Orndoff and Sam D. and Erica Yeager; five stepgreatgrandchildren, Devon, Jaden, Ava, Violet and Zach; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Chuck Greer.

Deceased are her oldest daughter, Brenda Lee Krepps; two brothers, Willis D. and Keith M. Dillie; and four sisters, Zelda McKay, Sylvia James, Dolores Felger and Evagean Mallas.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Hummell & Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, funeral director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, with minister David Deagel officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

Thomas S. “T.B.” Bucci of Clearwater Beach, Fla., formally of Houston, passed away January 31, 2014 in Suncoast Hospice Care Center, Florida.

Cindy Cumpston, of Carmichaels, mother of Christina Cumpston and grandmother of Justina Manning, passed away January 12, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 15, in Calvary Chapel Church, Fredericktown.

Avid card player

Angeline Sanfilippo D’Egidio Fry, 98, of Monongahela, passed peacefully in her sleep Monday, February 3, 2014, in Monongahela Valley Care Center.

She was born April 8, 1915, in Newell, a daughter of the late Fortunato and Mary Sanfilippo.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, is her first husband, Francesco D’Egidio; her second husband, Henry L. Fry; her wonderful and loving daughter, Mrs. Josephine (Eugene) Perry; William and Stella Fry; all of her siblings, Jenny DeFelicis (Gus), Mary DiPietro (Dominic), Alice Turturice (Sal), Grace Green (James), Sam Sanfilippo, Tony Sanfilippo and Ben Sanfilippo; and grandson Brad Perry.

Surviving are a son, Francis D’Egidio of Huntington, W.Va., his wife, Jane, and their children, Natalie Marra and husband, Mark, of Philadelphia, and Craig D’Egidio and wife, Sheree, of Atlanta, Ga. Also surviving are a special son in-law, Eugene A. Perry of Monongahela, and his sons, David (Karen) of Monongahela; Michael (Amy) of Huntington, Tom (Terri) of Belle Vernon and Sam (Debbie) of Monessen; six loving great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Rose Sanfilippo, Joan Sanfilippo and Loretto Sanfilippo; brother-in-law, Sal Turturice; a very dear friend, Lori Posi, lives in Philadelphia; and a loving family of many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Mrs. Fry was a homemaker while married to Francesco, until his death in 1942. During the war, she worked at the Donora Steel Mill. Afterwards, she became an employee at A&P grocery store, where she met Henry, later marrying in 1948. Together, they operated the Clover Farm grocery store at 8th Street and Crest Avenue in Charleroi for many years. In 1961, they bought and operated a Foodland store in Mt. Lebanon, until Henry’s passing in 1970. Mrs. Fry continued to operate the business for several years, retiring, then helping at Perry’s Produce Patch in Monongahela.

She was an avid card player and played with a group of ladies for over 50 years. She loved to read, cook, be with family and friends and loved watching her beloved Steelers and Pirates.

Mrs. Fry was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church all of her life and was an active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society for many years, helping with various church events.

A very special thank you to all of the wonderful, loving and caring employees at Mon Valley Care Center. Mrs. Fry became a part of their family seven years ago and was always treated and cared for as though she was their family. She was blessed to be under their care.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, www.massafrafuneralhome.com. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 8, in the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Valley Church, 1 Park Manor Road and Second Street Extension, Donora, with the Rev. Fr. Pierre M. Falkenhan as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Monongahela Cemetery, Monongahela.

Washington resident was a homemaker

Bonnie Louise Johnston, 57, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Washington Hospital.

She was born June 22, 1956, in Washington, a daughter of Cyrus Edward Kelley Sr. of Washington, and the late Darlene Wright.

Ms. Johnston was a homemaker.

Surviving, in addition to her father, are a son, Michael (Sandra) Johnston of Washington; a daughter, Christal (Joseph) Herring of Washington; her stepfather, Kenneth Wright Sr.; two brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) Wright of McDonald and Donald Wright of Meadow Lands; a sister, Sherry (Cody) Drabeck of Meadow Lands; two stepsisters, Judy Caldwell and Lisa Adams; two grandchildren, Austin Solow and Michaela Johnston; a niece, Miranda Gasior; and two nephews, Kenny and Eli Wright.

Deceased, in addition to her mother, are two brothers, Gary Kelley and Cyrus Kelley Jr., and her stepmother, Barbara Kelley.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., the time of service, Friday, February 7, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with the Rev. Robert Englert officiating.

Dorothy E. Kelley, 95, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014.

Kindest of persons

Essie Wilnetta “Pat” Mitchell, 89, passed away peacefully February 4, 2014, in the home she made with her daughter, with her family present, and with excellent supportive care of the staff of Hospice Care of Washington Health System.

She was born January 26, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of Charles and Elsie Brooks.

Mrs. Mitchell attended Mt. Morris High School and was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church.

On May 3, 1947, she married Charles R. Mitchell, who passed away September 13, 1992.

Family and friends brought many times of joy to Mrs. Mitchell’s life. She attended her grandson Wesley’s reception of the Commanding General’s Award from Army basic training, attended her granddaughter Jessica’s graduation with honors from Shadyside School of Nursing and attended the wedding of her grandson Patrick to Becca, the love of his life.

The gift of hospitality was evident in all aspects of Mrs. Mitchell’s life as she cooked to feed her family, always found enough beds for visiting guests and provided seed for feathered friends. Always thinking of others first, she continued to inquire about friend’s and neighbor’s families, even as health failed her.

Limited mobility in recent years of life allowed time for a close relationship with “Mrs. Mitchell’s” friend and caregiver, Mary Jo and “care-giving supervisor,” WieSue, a pug.

Surviving are her daughter Judith of Washington; son Dennis (Patty) of Canonsburg; granddaughter Jessica of Pittsburgh; grandson Wesley of Portland, Maine; grandson,Patrick (Becca) of Latrobe; and great-grandson Liam of Latrobe.

Friends and family will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 8. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.

Immaculate Conception Church lifelong member

Gina Raffaeli, 84, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 4, 2014, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a three-week illness.

She was born August 3, 1929, in Washington, a daughter of the late Arturo and Rosina Palamone Raffaeli.

Miss Raffaeli was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church, where she was very active. She was a 1946 graduate of Washington High School and a 1948 graduate of Washington Seminary.

She was employed at RCA for many years and at the Office of the Recorder of Deeds at the Washington County Courthouse, until her retirement.

Miss Raffaeli was a member of the Democratic Women, the RCA Retirement Club and the Immaculate Conception Friendship Club. She enjoyed traveling along with her nieces and nephews. They were the love of her life. She was very involved with her nieces and nephews and was like a mother to all of them.

She was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are her five nieces, Lisa (Larry) Moore of Washington, Nancy (Valen) Kokinakis of Maryland, Mary Louise (Tom) Barnes of South Carolina, Margaret (Patrick) Viccaro of Sewickley, and Ann Marie Raffaeli of Ohio; five nephews, John (Cathleen) Raffaeli Jr. of Connecticut, David (Laura) Raffaeli of Maryland, Robert Raffaeli of Ohio, Frank (Debbie) Raffaeli of Texas and Steve Raffaeli of Maryland; sister-in-law Ruth Raffaeli of Ohio; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Gildo Raffaeli and John Raffaeli Sr.; two sisters Palmina Raffaeli and Dora Parisse; a sister-in-law, Peggy Raffaeli; and brother-in-law Anthony Parisse.

Friends will be received from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., the time of a prayer service, Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with Fr. Lou Pascazi as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.

Loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother

Mary Lou Tracanna, 82, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014, in Donnell House.

She was born August 20, 1931, in Washington, a daughter of Louis and Adalyn Moletz Nardi.

Mrs. Tracanna was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

She was employed as an office manager for American Glass and Mirror for more than 30 years. She was also an Avon representative for more than 40 years. She was a den mother for her son’s Cub Scout group and loved cooking and playing cards with the girls from the neighborhood. Her husband, children and grandchildren were all truly number one in her life.

On November 26, 1953, she married Frank Tracanna Jr. Mr. Tracanna was the love of her life and the two recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are her children, Karen (Fred) Dailey of New Cumberland, Terry (Art) Brogley of Scenery Hill, Richard “Rick” (Anna) Tracanna of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Kim (Chris) Breault of Orange Park, Fla., and Sandy Frazee of Washington; six grandchildren, Kevin Brogley, Melissa (Bob) Packard, Chad Brogley, Michelle “Shelley” Dailey, Mark Frazee II and Kate Tracanna; and three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hailey and Luke Packard.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director.
