Veteran owned George’s Meat Market

George Luketich, 89, of Bentleyville, died Saturday evening, February 8, 2014, with his daughter by his side in Wallace B. Murphy Nursing Center, Grafton, W.Va.

He was born August 18, 1924, in Ellsworth, a son of Michael and Mary Zalac Luketich.

A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Luketich owned and operated the former George’s Meat Market in Bentleyville. He attended Ave Maria Parish and was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union and St. George Lodge 354 in Cokeburg.

Deceased are his wife, Sylvia Ann Rocko Luketich, who died December 3, 2005; a son, Gary Luketich; brothers Michael Jr., Andrew, Matthew, Thomas and Frank Luketich; and sisters Ann Simsak, Catherine Alexander and Mary Luketich.

Surviving are his loving daughter, Kimberly Trozzi of Grafton; grandchildren, Lauren and Garrett Trozzi of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.

He also leaves behind his faithful companion, his dog, Lola.

Friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Thompson-Marodi Funeral Home Inc., 809 Main Street, Bentleyville, 724-239-2255, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 15, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial in Ave Maria Church, Bentleyville, with the Rev. Edward L. Yuhas as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela, with graveside military rites by American Legion Post 165.
