Proud veteran loved family cookouts
Robert G. “Bob” Moninger, 76, of Lone Pine, died Sunday, February 9, 2014, in Washington Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
He was born September 7, 1937, in Lone Pine, a son of the late Edgar “Bud” and Margaret “Billie” Frye Moninger.
He was a 1957 graduate of Trinity High School and went on to join the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a proud veteran.
Mr. Moninger worked for Hankison in Arden for many years, until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of Washington Elks Lodge 776, American Legion Post 175 of Washington and a lifetime member of National Rifle Association and North American Fishing Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to his camp in Donegal, but above all, he loved family cookouts.
In 1988, he married Dorothy “Dot” Bissell in North Ten Mile Baptist Church, sharing more than 25 years of marriage together.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Moninger of Lone Pine, are two sons, Billy R. (Rachel) Moninger of Cecil Township and Brett Moninger of South Carolina; a daughter, Bobbi Moninger of South Carolina; a stepdaughter, Dawn Montgomery of Holbrook; two sisters, Patricia Kelvington of Morgantown, W.Va., and Deborah (Ken) Montgomery of Lone Pine; a brother-in-law, Joe Vitia; six grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Moninger, Luke Moninger, Maddie (Adam) Petras, James Golovas, Thomas Golovas and Amber Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Barbara Vitia; a grandson, Terry Montgomery; and a brother-in-law, Gary Kelvington.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 13. Interment will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery, Amwell Township.
