Bernard C. “Bernie” Wyne, 83, of Monongahela, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, in his home after a lingering illness.
Born October 16, 1930, in Donora, he was a son of Paul and Helen Whiteman Wyne.
Mr. Wyne retired in 1992 from Verizon, where he worked for 38 years as a switchman. A graduate of Monongahela High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was protestant.
He was a member of the Missed Approach Flying R/C Club.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Patricia Dunlop Wyne; three sons, Richard D. Wyne (Shelly Segen), Brian Wyne of Monongahela and David and wife Regina Wyne of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren, Richard Wyne of Monongahela, Dustin Wyne of Elizabeth, Robin Wyne of Allenport and Matthew Wyne of Belle Vernon; a great-granddaughter, Riley Wyne; a brother, Philip (Emily) Wyne of Monongahela; and three sisters, Lynda (Dr. William) Berg of Coral De Tierra, Calif., Karen (Charles) Reiter of San Francisco, Calif., and Patty Compton of Bolivia, N.C.
Deceased are a brother, Ira Wyne, and a sister, Shirley McIlvaine.
At the family’s request, there will be no public visitation and services will be private. Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Wynes’ name to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330, or the charity of ones choice.
