Involved with 4-H for several years
Helen Breese Ewart, 98, of Washington, died Thursday, February 13, 2014, in Breese’s Personal Care Home, Claysville.
She was born in Washington, January 2, 1916, a daughter of the late Frank I. and Eva Bell McAdams Breese.
Mrs. Ewart was a 1933 graduate of Trinity High School and former member of Liberty Methodist and North Buffalo Presbyterian churches.
She was a 25-year member of Buffalo Grange, holding office of lecturer and junior matron. She was also a 4-H leader for several years.
Mrs. Ewart enjoyed crafts of different kinds and made many quilts.
Surviving are two daughters, Margery (Robert) McWhorter of South Carolina, Kathryn (James) Barnes of Washington, and a son, Robert (Della) Ewart of North Carolina. Her grandchildren are Neil (Kelly) McWhorter of Florida, Kent (Dianna) McWhorter of South Carolina, Aaron Barnes of Washington, Amy (William) Haines of Prosperity and great-granddaughter Eithne McWhorter of South Carolina.
Deceased are her husband Robert C. Ewart; three brothers, Clarence (Red) Breese, Ralph Breese, and John, who died in infancy, and an infant grandson, Todd McWhorter.
Family and friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 21. A guest book may be signed at www.nicholfuneralhome.com.
