Grace I. Kern, 94, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in Washington County Health Center.
She was born March 18, 1919, in McKeesport, a daughter of John E. Pinkerton and Margaret Gallagher Pinkerton.
Mrs. Kern was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Prosperity. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, watching “The Price is Right” on television, shopping and spending time with family.
On October 5, 1933, she married Joseph Kern Sr., who died June 10, 1992. They were married for 59 years.
Surviving are a son, Joseph (Phyllis) Kern Jr. of Washington; two daughters, Joan (Andy) Anderson of Washington and Lois Kern of Washington; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Rydzak, Joseph (Deb) Rydzak, Joseph (Tammy) Kern, K.C. (Michelle) Walters, Terry (Dennis) Dydiw, Stacy (David) White, Kristi (Barry) Bartusiak and Leslie (Bob) Croyle; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are four brothers, Denver, Carl, John and Frank, and two sisters, Margaret Saunders and Mildred Pinkerton.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 21.
