John A. Hallam
Grandfather and Korean War veteran
John A. Hallam, 87, of Washington, died Monday, February 17, 2014, in his home.
He was born January 20, 1927, in Washington, a son of the late Cleon and Mabel Armstrong Hallam.
Mr. Hallam was a graduate of Trinity High School and retired from NAPA Auto Parts, Canonsburg, after 30 years of service. He was a member of Laboratory Presbyterian Church. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea.
On April 10, 1949, in Washington, he married Martha McConnell, who died February 5, 2005.
Surviving are two sons, John S. (Mu Sun) Hallam of Peoria, Ariz., and Richard L. (Paula) Hallam of Washington; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Dicks of Washington and Cathy A. Mikus of Peoria, Ariz.; a brother, Wayne Hallam of Washington; a sister, Elsie Todd of Chicago, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Heather Pattison, Heather Ausher, Shaun Hallam, Dawnetta Johns, Katie Dicks, Cory Amos and Jordan Mikus; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Arthur Hallam, and a sister, Lois Hallam.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, with Rev. Donna L. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military honors will be afforded by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
