Edward L. Shriver, 63, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in a Pittsburgh hospital, following complications from a sudden illness. Although he was not in the best health, his death was unexpected.
He was born September 30, 1950, a son of June Haring Shriver of Waynesburg and the late Francis Richard.
Mr. Shriver grew up on the family farm in Gordon Hill and was active in 4-H and East Franklin Grange activities.
He was a 1968 graduate of Waynesburg High School and graduated from California State College in 1972. He also took advanced coursework in computer science at Waynesburg College.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Germany as well as at several stateside installations.
After working as a computer programmer for several years in the Pittsburgh area, he returned to Waynesburg, where he could often be seen walking to the Bowlby library or to Disabled American Veteran’s club in Blairtown, where he worked in the office.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Blough (Lenny) of Washington, Pat Stout (Walt) of Ruff Creek and Barbara Liming of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, John of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Kenneth Shriver.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.
