James A. “Bucky” Bellotti, 73, of Brandon, Fla., formerly of Washington, died Saturday, February 1, 2014, in his home.

He was born August 7, 1940, in Washington, a son of the late Frank Bellotti Sr. and Mary Caputo Bellotti.

Mr. Bellotti served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He started out working at Forbes Steel and worked his way up to general foreman, and worked for various steel corporations around the world, for more than 40 years.

Mr. Bellotti enjoyed spending time with his family and was a race car driver for the National Racing Association.

Surviving are a son, Michael G. Bellotti of Meteriaie, La.; a brother, Frank (Carol) Bellotti of Washington; two sisters, Ursula (James) Brodnick of Houston and Diana Bell of Washington; two granddaughters, Michelle and Nicole Bellotti; a sister-in-law, Patti Lesko Bellotti Bell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother, John Bellotti.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.

Loved animals, music

William “Bill” Joseph Bryant, 65, of Washington, died Friday, February 7, 2014, following a one-year illness.

He was born November 3, 1948, in Washington, a son of Dr. Joseph Bryant and Olive Ruth Haggerson Bryant.

Mr. Bryant served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He attended Washington High School and was a graduate of Kiski Prep School.

Mr. Bryant was self-employed as a residential general contractor.

He was a member of Trinity Church.

Mr. Bryant loved animals, especially his dog, Brindle. He enjoyed music and played in a folk band with his friends and brother.

On September 7, 1980, he married Marcia A. Scavnicky, who survives.

Also surviving are a brother, John (Sherry) Bryant of Grand Praire, Texas; two sisters, Claudia (Ed) Schoonmaker of Oak Ridge, N.J., and Marilee (Russ) Bell of Vero Beach, Fla.; and two stepsisters, Marylin Robboy of Maryland and Marsha Murphy of New York.

Deceased is his stepfather, Malcolm Meyer.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, in Trinity Church, 550 South Main Street, Washington, with the Rev. Karen Stevenson officiating. Arrangement are being handled by William G. Neal, Funderal Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.

Former Uniontown teacher

Ronaele Cekola, 70, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in her home.

She was born April 1, 1943, in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Leonard DeiCas and Eleanor Johns DeiCas.

Mrs. Cekola was a graduate of Charleroi High School and California University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in education.

She was a teacher at Franklin Elementary School in Uniontown School District.

Mrs. Cekola was a member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church in Charleroi, Lagonda Homemakers and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, and was affiliated with Girl Scouts for many years.

Her hobbies included gardening, cooking and reading.

On August 27, 1966, she married Wayne A. Cekola, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Wayne A. Cekola II of Fort Bragg, N.C., and John L. Cekola of Monessen; a daughter, Amy B. Cekola-Miah (Fazlul) of Saudi Arabia; a brother, Bradley DeiCas (Darlene) of Charleroi; and four grandchildren, Anisa, Nura, Ryyan and Hana Miah.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, with Father James A. Ragan officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

Robert Earl Hickman, 83, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in his home.

Active member of Valley Chapel Church

Faye Grimes Hunnell, 91, of Holbrook, went to her heavenly home at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, surrounded by her family, after being seriously ill for the past month.

She was born April 7, 1922, in Jackson Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Earl Bern and Rachel Jane Jones Stockdale.

Mrs. Hunnell resided in Jackson Township all her life.

She attended the former Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Bluff as a child, and was an active member and office holder at Valley Chapel United Methodist Church for the past several years.

Mrs. Hunnell attended the former Jackson Township Oak Shade Elementary School and, while residing with her uncle Frank Jones, attended the former Waynesburg High School.

She was a loving mother and homemaker, and was employed as a waitress at the former Myrtle’s Townhouse Restaurant in Waynesburg in the early 1960s. She served on the Jackson Township Election Board for several years.

On July 1, 1941, she married Halfred Byron Grimes, who died July 17, 1976. On August 8, 1983, she married Charles Lewis Hunnell, who died August 8, 1987.

Surviving are two sons, H. Terry, husband of Carlyn Grimes, and Charles Leroy (Bugsy), husband of Reneee Grimes, and a daughter-in-law, Linda Grimes, all of Holbrook; eight grandchildren, Kathy, wife of Steve Cummings, Lori Beth, wife of Sam Blaney, Autumn Grimes, companion of Eric Hoyt, Mark, husband of Janice Grimes, Jeffry, husband of Kimberley Grimes, Charles “Chip” Grimes, Ian, husband of Amanda Grimes, and Peter, husband of Lisa Grimes; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a stepson, Charles Hunnell of Oak Forest; and several nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates Mrs. Hunnell’s caregiver for the past year, Cindy Jones, and other recent caregivers, Patti, Amy, Joy and Dee.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husbands, are a son, Roger Wayne Grimes, who died February 9, 2002; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Blaney; a brother, Wayne Stockdale; and two sisters, Violet Gilbert and Lavonna Lewis Loughman.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, with the Rev. Ben Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.

Mary “Peg” Ingram Jewell, 69, of Waynesburg, died at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington, following a lengthy illness.

She was born Tuesday, November 14, 1944, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Calvin Ingram and Aldine Kiger Ingram.

Mrs. Jewell was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Gordon Hill.

She enjoyed walking every day, when her health permitted. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband and was a homemaker.

On August 23, 1962 she married her husband, Jerry R. Jewell, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sherry (Todd) Hildreth of White, Ga.; a son, Terry (Theresa) Jewell of Cranberry Township; five grandchildren; a sister, Cathy Shimek of Waynesburg; a brother, George Ingram of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased, visitation and services will be private, with the Rev. William Parker officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery, Morgan Township, Greene County.

Served in U.S. Army

Norman B. Leichliter, 76, of Fredericktown, died Monday, February 17, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born December 9, 1937, in Clarksville, a son of the late Thomas N. and Viola Marie Craft Leichliter.

Mr. Leichliter served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He worked as a coal miner with Gateway Coal Co., and in later years, as a custodian with the Jefferson-Morgan School District at the high school.

Mr. Leichliter was a member of American Legion, Hanson-Cole Post 391 in Fredericktown and United Mine Workers of America.

He was formerly married to Ida Mae Stilwell, who died March 30, 2012, and to Avis McKnight Leichliter Lloyd of Masontown, who survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Deanna Whoolery and husband Glen of Jefferson, Sheryl Wahl of Portage, Mich., Lynn King and husband Kirk of Waynesburg and Marie Leichliter-Krause and husband Richard of Carmichaels; 10 grandchildren, Joshua Whoolery, Matthew King, Ryan King, Christopher King, Maggie Burnworth, Desiree Leichliter, Tommy Leichliter, Kyle Leichliter, Sydney Wahl and Ethan Wahl; and four great-grandchildren, Aidan Burnworth, Ellie Burnworth, Destiny Jordan and Denny Johnston.

Deceased are a son, Thomas R. Leichliter; two brothers, Ralph Leichliter and Thomas A. Leichliter; and a sister, Harriett Brendle.

Kathleen T. Leichter, 79, of Bloomington, Ind., passed away February 17, 2014, in I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospice House.

She was born December 6, 1934, in Philadelphia, a daughter of Cornelius and Kathleen McMonagle Hart.

Mrs. Leichter was a graduate of Roxborough High School.

She was a charter member of Boys Club of Bloomington Auxiliary. She also was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Bloomington Hospital for more than 25 years. She was a co-founder of Cakes, Candies and Things.

Surviving are her husband, Ronald D. Leichter, whom she married September 6, 1958; daughter Mary Ann Leichter of Champaign, Ill.; son John F. Leichter of Ellettsville, Ind.; grandchildren Landon E. (Kayt) Leichter and Caitlin E. Leichter, both of Spencer, Ind.; brothers Cornelius (Patricia) Hart Jr. of Philadelphia and Francis (Kathy) Hart of Ambler; and sister Lorraine Hart of Philadelphia.

Visitation and services will be private. Burial will be in Clear Creek Cemetery.

Weirton Steel employee

Edward D. Magon, 56, of Avella, died at 3:05 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014, in Washington Hospital.

He was born May 25, 1957, in Washington Hospital, a son of the late Raymond J. and Irene Brezinski Magon.

Mr. Magon was a 1975 graduate of Avella High School.

He was an electrician at Weirton Steel for 30 years.

Mr. Magon was a lifelong resident of Avella and a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church.

He enjoyed hunting at his cabin in Brockway, his dog, Jedi, traveling out west and taking trips on steam engine trains across the country.

On September 26, 1981, he married Judy L. Roadman, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Jared Magon of Avella, and three brothers, Daniel (Edna) Magon of Claysville, R. Alan (Barbara) Magon of Fairfax, Va., and William Magon of Avella;.He was also very close with his nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 22, in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, 95 Highland Avenue, Avella, PA 15312, with the Rev. Robert M. Staszewski officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Avella.

U.S. Army veteran

Edward L. Shriver, 63, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in a Pittsburgh hospital, following complications from a sudden illness. Although he was not in the best health, his death was unexpected.

He was born September 30, 1950, a son of June Haring Shriver of Waynesburg and the late Francis Richard.

Mr. Shriver grew up on the family farm in Gordon Hill and was active in 4-H and East Franklin Grange activities.

He was a 1968 graduate of Waynesburg High School and graduated from California State College in 1972. He also took advanced coursework in computer science at Waynesburg College.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served in Germany as well as at several stateside installations.

After working as a computer programmer for several years in the Pittsburgh area, he returned to Waynesburg, where he could often be seen walking to the Bowlby library or to Disabled American Veteran’s club in Blairtown, where he worked in the office.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are three sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Blough (Lenny) of Washington, Pat Stout (Walt) of Ruff Creek and Barbara Liming of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, John of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a brother, Kenneth Shriver.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.

WWII vet, avid woodworker

William James White, 91, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, in Donnell House, Washington.

He was born June 3, 1922, in Carothers, a son of Philip White and Leona Risher White.

A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy from October 5, 1942, until his honorable discharge March 17, 1946, as a storekeeper, third class.

Mr. White worked at Jessop Steel for 26 years.

He was a member of Washington Alliance Church, where he was a church officer and Sunday School superintendent.

Mr. White was an avid woodworker and collector of arrowheads. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family dearly.

On August 27, 1946, he married Eva Lawrence, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, James L. (Dr. Carol) White of Fredericktown; three daughters, Nancy White (David) Carlstrom of Seattle, Wash., Linda White Stormes of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Carol White (Jeffrey) Brown of Honeoye Falls, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren, Jesse and Joshua Carlstrom, Rebecca (Ralph) Pietrofesa, Nathan White, Gregory Stormes and Allyson, Madelyn and Wyatt Brown.

Deceased are two brothers, Robert and Norman White, and two sisters, Phyllis Redinger and Betty Batterton.
