William “Bill” Joseph Bryant, 65, of Washington, died Friday, February 7, 2014, following a one-year illness.

He was born November 3, 1948, in Washington, a son of Dr. Joseph Bryant and Olive Ruth Haggerson Bryant.

Mr. Bryant served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He attended Washington High School and was a graduate of Kiski Prep School.

Mr. Bryant was self-employed as a residential general contractor.

He was a member of Trinity Church.

Mr. Bryant loved animals, especially his dog, Brindle. He enjoyed music and played in a folk band with his friends and brother.

On September 7, 1980, he married Marcia A. Scavnicky, who survives.

Also surviving are a brother, John (Sherry) Bryant of Grand Praire, Texas; two sisters, Claudia (Ed) Schoonmaker of Oak Ridge, N.J., and Marilee (Russ) Bell of Vero Beach, Fla.; and two stepsisters, Marylin Robboy of Maryland and Marsha Murphy of New York.

Deceased is his stepfather, Malcolm Meyer.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 22, in Trinity Church, 550 South Main Street, Washington, with the Rev. Karen Stevenson officiating. Arrangement are being handled by William G. Neal, Funderal Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
