Basketball and baseball coach

Brian Anselmino, 45, of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly Saturday, February 22, 2014. He was a loving and devoted father and husband, as well as a great friend to many and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him, especially his family.

Mr. Anselmino was born July 31, 1968, in Pittsburgh, and is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Ann Kruki Anselmino. He was a 1986 graduate of Ringgold High School. He was a member of the Duquesne Dukes basketball team from 1986 to 1990, graduated from Duquesne University in 1990 and was still active with the basketball program as an alumni.

Mr. Anselmino worked in medical sales as a territory manager from Thoratec.

He was very active with coaching youth basketball and baseball. He was an assistant coach for the Canon-McMillan High School boys varsity program, and then coached his son’s travel basketball team for the Canon-Mac youth basketball program. He also has coached his kids in AAU basketball for the Western Pennsylvania Wildcats. He also coached baseball and assisted with his son’s baseball teams in Canon-Mac Youth Baseball Association.

He was an active member of St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg.

Deceased is a young daughter, Amanda Anselmino, who passed away on the same day in 2006.

Surviving are his wife, Denise Wright Anselmino, and his twin children, Danielle and Anthony Anselmino.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Sollon Funeral Home, Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 27, in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church.

Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Mr. Anselmino’s name to Catholic Charities, 212 Ninth Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15222, www.ccpgh.org.
