Loved spending time with grandchildren
Helen Guidas, 89, of Washington, died Sunday, February 23, 2014, in Consulate Health Care, North Strabane Township.
She was born March 28, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of Joseph and Katherine O’Senkoski Yaros.
Mrs. Guidas was Catholic and a member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and then later Immaculate Conception Church, both in Washington.
She loved travelling to tropical destinations, cooking, shopping, crocheting and knitting. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Tygart Valley Glass Co. and Metro Glass employed Mrs. Guidas as a production worker in their shop. She was a graduate of Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and worked as a beautician.
Deceased are her first husband, Herbert Dollish, in 1993; her second husband, John Guidas; and two sisters, Stella Smith and Mary Schriskey.
Surviving are a daughter, Deborah (John) Harter of Washington; a son, Dennis (Kathe) Dollish of Canonsburg; two grandchildren, Jon Harter of Washington and Hannah Dollish of Canonsburg; a sister, Jennie Gravel; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, where a blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, with the Rev. Thomas D. O’Neil officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amedisys at 275 Meadowlands Boulevard, Washington, PA 15301.
