Mary Helen Gilbert, 96, formerly of Dilliner, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in Rolling Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Waynesburg.

She was born May 18, 1917, in Hazel Green, Wis., a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Przybysz Daniel.

Mrs. Gilbert lived most of her life in the Dilliner area and was a member of St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels.

She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery work and flower and vegetable gardening. Above all, she enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandsons.

On May 19, 1938, she married Edward O. Gilbert, who died May 1, 1980.

Surviving are a son, Edward S. Gilbert and wife Toni of Dilliner; four daughters, Barbara J. Guritza and husband Steve of Mather, Mary Gency and husband Gene of Lordstown, Ohio, Cecelia McNatt and husband Gail of Farrell and Betty J. Ganocy and husband Ken of Carmichaels; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; a brother, Frank Daniel and wife Louise of Dilliner; four sisters, Regina Fry of Hayes, Va., Cecelia Shocket of Auburn, Wash., Sophia Stoner and husband Chuck of Mooresville, N.C., and Agnes Clark of Tallmadge, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are three brothers, Joseph Daniel, who died in infancy, Stephen Daniel and Lawrence Daniel and two sisters, Mary Daniel, who died in infancy and Veronica Chekosky.

Family and friends are welcomed from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, followed by a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 a.m. in St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church, Carmichaels, with the Rev. John M. Bauer, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro. A vigil service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
