Harriett A. Downer, 90, of Waynesburg, formerly of Monongahela, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.
She was born August 8, 1923, in North Charleroi, a daughter of the late Joseph and Garnett White Allfree.
Mrs. Downer was a member of First Christian Church in Charleroi. She worked for 25 years as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone Co.
Surviving are her son, Todd (Betsy) Downer of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Cameron and McKenzie Downer; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, deceased are her husband, Clarence W. Downer; a son, Jack Downer; two brothers, Joseph and Emerson Allfree; and three sisters, Mary Wood, Ann Lauder and Belle Brutout.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 226 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, PA 15022, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, with the Rev. David Crowe officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
