Kalliope Moniodes
All Saints Church member worked for Sarris Candies
Kalliope “Popie” Moniodes, 72, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014, in Canonsburg Hospital.
She was born July 11, 1941, in Pyles, Greece, a daughter of Constantine and Evelyn Papageorge Lahanas.
Mrs. Moniodes was an active member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, where she was involved with the choir for many years. She worked as a candy packer for Sarris Candies.
She was a talented seamstress and loved cooking, baking and gardening. She especially loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
On August 16, 1959, she married her husband of more than 54 years, William P. Moniodes of Canonsburg, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Irene (James) Pihiou of North Strabane Township, Evelyn (Pete) Pihiou of Canonsburg and Constance (Robert) Voas of North Strabane; three grandchildren, Christos Pihiou, William Pihiou and Dimitri Pihiou; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her sister, Irene Papayianni; brother Michael Lahanas; sister Koula Malihoutsaki; sister Zoe Ikonomidis; brother Menas Lahanas; and sister Marigo Scoullos.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of services, Saturday, March 1, with Father George Livanos officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
