Beloved grandfather

Richard G. Herceg, 71, of Washington, died Sunday, January 5, 2014, in his home.

He was born December 26, 1942, in Washington, a son of George Herceg of Washington, who survives, and the late Mary Jane Lantosh Herceg.

Mr. Herceg was Protestant and a man of great faith.

He enjoyed fishing and loved all sports, especially basketball, baseball and football. He also enjoyed staying in touch with his former co-workers at Washington Grocers Association and Hometown Coffee, where he was employed as a longtime warehouse manager.

On February 14, 1972, he married Donna D. Lewis, who died October 25, 2011.

Surviving is a stepdaughter, Alice (Mitch) Wimert of Washington, with whom he made his home.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Zachary, Joshua and Emily Wimert; a sister, Janet (Steve) Kochuba of Glassport; and three nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Wednesday, January 8, in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Paul Peternel officiating.
