Naomi Faye Hutchinson Day, 76, of Canton Township, Washington, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, in her home.
She was born in West Bethlehem Township August 24, 1937, a daughter of the late William T. and Evelyn Payne Hutchinson.
Mrs. Day attended Barr School and West Bethlehem High School. She worked for 23 years at Washington Hospital, until her retirement in 1999.
She was a member of Friendship Community Church, where she was a choir member and enjoyed helping with various church activities, including quilting and being part of the prayer chain. She also enjoyed reading, crafts, playing Scrabble, babysitting, her flower garden, participating in cultural events, travel and attending her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities.
On February 17, 1956, she married Homer Robert Day in Winchester, Va. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, before his death on June 5, 2008.
She is survived by five children, Phillip Ray Day of Washington, Robert Dale (Renee) Day of Lone Pine, Debra Denise Gallo of Washington, Sandra Dawn (William) Chappel of Washington and Melody Joy Day of Washington; eight brothers, Richard Hutchinson of Florida, Robert (Janice) Hutchinson of Tennessee, Darrell (Kim) Hutchinson of Ohio, William (Linda) Hutchinson of Michigan, Lester “David” (Brenda) Hutchinson of Pennsylvania, Keith “Jim” (Veronica) Hutchinson of Pennsylvania, Douglas (Brenda) Hutchinson of Pennsylvania and Dennis (Erin) Hutchinson of Pennsylvania; five sisters, Judith (John) Bobelak of Florida, Constance Maloney of Colorado, Christine Burnsworth of Ohio, Debra (Dennis) DeNagel of Florida and Nadine (Bruce) Sheets of Pennsylvania; three sisters-in-law, Edie Hutchinson of Pennsylvania, Blanche Hutchinson of Florida, and Jane (Erold) Fletcher of California; nine grandchildren, Mandy (Chris) Bird, Marsha (Evan) Gerber, Brittany Lundsford, William Gallo, Jaclyn Chappel, William Chappel, Harrison Chappel, Rachael (David) Bruno and Maggie Bober; and six great-grandchildren, Olivia, Benjamin, Samantha, Madison, Allison, and Andrew.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are two brothers, Kenneth Hutchinson and Roger Hutchinson; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Hutchinson; and two brothers-in-law, John Burnsworth and Jack Teagarden.
Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 13, with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating. Interment will follow in Braddock Cemetery, Graysville.
