Life revolved around faith and family

Karen E. Martincic, 70, of Tionesta, Hickory Township, Forest County, formerly of Canonsburg and Beaver County, went home to be with her Savior at 12:25 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, in Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, S.C.

She was born January 1, 1944, in Rochester, a daughter of the late Edward Charles and Caroline Sack Black.

On April 10, 1965, she married John J. Martincic of Canonsburg, in Calvary Baptist Church, Monaca. He faithfully stayed by her side in Anderson every day of her recent three-month illness. They were married 48 years and had three children.

Mrs. Martincic was an active member of several churches over the years. She was most recently a member of Tidioute Baptist Church and its ladies’ missionary group. She was also active at Endeavor Senior Center.

Her life revolved around her faith and family. She enjoyed baking and perfecting recipes, and was known for her chocolate chip cookies. She made birthday celebrations and holidays very special with her creative cake designs and Danish pastries. She loved to travel to visit with family and treasured her memories of family vacations in Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico.

Surviving are her beloved husband, John J. Martincic of Tionesta; and their three children, John E. Martincic and his wife, Lorraine, of Tionesta, Deborah L. Kiffer and her husband, Lewis, of Starr, S.C., and Robert P. Martincic and his wife, Georgia, of Greenville, S.C.; six grandchildren, John Paul, Kara and Andrew Martincic and Lewis “JR” Nathaniel and Alaina Kiffer; a great-granddaughter, Teresa Kiffer; two brothers, James Black and his wife, Geri, of Monaca, and Thomas Black and his wife, Lois, of Harmony; a brother-in-law, David Owsley of McMurray; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a sister, Sue Owsley.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home, Tionesta, where funeral services will held 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, with Pastor Jerry Warren, of the Tidioute Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Townline Cemetery, Tionesta.
