1924-2014

Dorothy C. Buckel, 89, of Georgetown, Hanover Township, formerly of Burgettstown, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, in Heritage Valley Beaver Medical Center.

She was born April 22, 1924, the youngest child of the late Earl and Ada Smith Merryman.

On March 17, 1945, she married William J. Buckel, who preceeded her in death November 5, 1990.

She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, playing cards and Scrabble.

Surviving are four children, Alvin L. Buckel and wife Joanne of Houston, Grace Todaro and husband Charles of Johnstown, Debra Tingler and husband William of Georgetown and Carol Davis and husband James of Ashboro, N.C.; 10 grandchildren, Megan Agrafiotis and husband Jim, Amanda Canty and husband Mike, Sherry Deitrich, Dana Bongiorni and husband Rich, Amy Williams and husband Earl, William Lockhart, Christy Vagnozzi, Charles W. Camp and wife Angie, William Tingler and Frank Tingler and wife Danielle; several great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Merryman of California and Hazel Hewitt of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are four brothers, Marion, Roscoe, Robert and Harry Merryman, and a grandson, Jeremy Lockhart.

Friends will be recieved from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Lee & Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Avenue, Burgettstown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 17, with the Rev. Dr. Christina Hosler officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence.
